Erin's Guide To Romance

Are there things out there in this world that are totally and completely romantic and excellent to you, but it seems like no one else gets it?

I'll give you some examples:

The Labyrinth! I have seen this movie so many times it's out of control. It was my favorite when I was younger and then since I've been an adult I've forced my children to watch it over and over again and then annoyed them thoroughly while I talked along with all the dialogue and sang along with all of the songs.

Ok Ok, I know everybody loves Star Wars. The only two things I cared about watching Star Wars as a kid were
#1: THE EWOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know people act like they hate these little suckers, but COME ON! We all know that everyone wanted one as a pet and best friend, to live in our houses with us and go to school with us and cuddle with us in our beds.

and

#2: Princess Leia and Hans Solo living happily every after. Every time Luke and Leia were on the screen together I cringed because I knew there was something not right with those two! SISTER LOVER!!!!
Everyone probably knows what scene is coming up

I watched Moulin Rouge over and over again when I was pregnant with Olivia. I used to sing her the whole movie while she was in my tummy. I know I'm a total girl but everytime I hear this song I get a little weepy. I used this clip cause I was engrossed with the Swedish subtitles. I bet Swedish is killer to try to learn.

I always thought Wuthering Heights was like the most romantic book ever. Apparently I'm a softy for adopted sibling necrophiliac love....

Wow, it's like you're reading my mind here! ...Although I prefer the "Your Song" part of Moulin Rouge. It always gets me choked up.

My other old favorite is Pretty in Pink, except I always end up feeling sorry for Duckie. Why can't Duckie get some love??

I loved Labyrinth. And when I was younger, I wondered what was packed into those gray pants of his.

I asked my mom once, and my little sister overheard me. Her guess? Peanuts.

I'm not much of a romantic, but I can get teary-eyed over homemade brownies or cupcakes made by my sweetie!

I am SO WITH YOU on Star Wars real reason for existence. And can I just tell you, Miss 28-year-old, that I saw "Empire" in the theater at like 13, and told my mother on the way home that I would NOT BE GETTING OUT OF BED until Han was un-carbon-froze. And I MEANT it. Even when she said it would be a couple of years.

@Isabel: I love wuthering heights too. Oh Heathcliff.

@Jerrod: ya...women...sheesh

@Sass: Your Song is another song I would sing to olivia in womb. So simple, so lovey dovey.

@becky: I'm like that with the english patient, still haven't seen it cause my mom loved it so much. If my mom loved it, it must suck.

@sally: I never noticed his 'peanuts' until I was an adult.

@Sam: my dad rented us the star wars trilogy from rite aid (he's a pharmacist) and we ended up keeping them. Same with the Indiana Jones movies. And Time Bandits....
