Dork Designs by Erin - Shipping now included

Advertising is a strange task. On one hand I feel like I'm asking people for money and on the other hand I know I have a quality product made of the best materials that I have worked very hard at making... I'm torn.

Regardless I haven't been into using Etsy as of late. I am just not that great of a photographer and don't have the tools accessible to me readily to be able to make the types of professional listings I think would compete well on that site. So I have been selling to local shops, and here and there through Facebook and other medias. I posted this post recently about examples of what I do for Dork Designs and a list of custom order prices.

Here's a round up of the handmade stuffies I have available after the Easter onslaught. All bunnies and bears are $40 including shipping and measure approx 14" from tips of ears to bottom of their toes. Each bunny and bear is made of hypoallergenic fibers and fillings with love by me.

Message me at embburger@gmail.com or like Dork Designs by Erin on Facebook and message me there for ordering info!

Smooth Sailing and Saling

The kids' first whole week of school has come and gone. They're already not perfectly groomed or up and rearing to go each morning before they leave for the bus stop, but that's ok. I'm slowly starting to cope with Maxine Jane's daily absence, Olivia has so far not annoyed any teacher enough to warrant a phone call home (the last two years have featured one phone call and one note home within the first month of school beginning) and Rosey hasn't over-analyzed her homework to the point of breaking down in tears, yet.

I have already started working on Christmas orders and my new job at Crochet Spot is keeping me pretty busy. Angela at Eat Here has ordered a bulk order of Boxer hats (see her lovely husband rocking their previously custom order hat here). And here are some other things I've been working on:

This shawl (worn here wrapped around like a cowl) is available in hypoallergenic acrylic yarn for $40 and luxury merino wool for $70. The shawl in the photograph is available for sale (and quick shipment) for $45 and is made of the merino wool.

This cowl is so warm and chunky. I can't wait to make one for myself in raspberry or some funky ass yellow! It's available in hypoallergenic acrylic yarn for $30 and luxury merino wool for $50.

This cabled headband is made of a cotton/linen/silk mix yarn and can also be worn as an earwarmer! It's $25 and available in an awesome array of colors.

These washcloths are made of 100% organic cotton and are completely all natural. They come in sets of 5 for $20, but can also be purchased in bulk at a discount.

Remember all of these items can be ordered in any color! This goes for the star washcloths as well, if they are ordered in a color I will use organic cotton that has been naturally dyed. Contact me at oliverosetree@yahoo.com with any requests, questions or ordering info. I'm a prompt responder!

Don't forget to check out this SALE if you're interested in ordering for this holiday at a discount!

Customizing Cuteness

I love doing custom orders. I think it's the neatest thing, making something with my own two hands for someone else to enjoy. Something a baby can cuddle with, something little kids can play dress up with, something that one of my blog friends can wrap around them on a chilly bike ride.

My last two custom orders have been especially pleasant, one for Colleen who writes at her blog, Collology. If you're not reading her now, please do so. She's calm, insightful and intelligent. I made a set for her impending arrival in October, she liked it so much she's come back for more.

My latest endeavor at her behest:

This set, or your interpretation of the perfect custom gift for your friend or relative or reticulated falcon neighbor can be ordered by contacting me at my email address, oliverosetree@yahoo.com.

An also super fun order from Tara at Bite The Bed Bugs (who is ultra cute, hilarious and should be your facebook friend). Three kitty cat hats in three different sizes made of the most excellent organic cotton/linen mix. She loved them and wrote this on my book of faces, 'oh the hats arrived! They are fantastic!!! And so soft! You are now my go-to girl for baby/kid gifts'.

The Size 7 Girls is in light grey and raspberry, Size 4 Girls is in light grey and carnation pink and the baby girl hat is in carnation pink and bubblegum pink.

I just realized that I didn't write about Rosey on her 10th birthday, which was this weekend! Shame on me. Boo Hiss.

Here is my oldest child, my darling Rosey on her 10th birthday with her brand new glasses:

And then this photo....cause that's just how I roll:

Enough With The Bunnies?

Yes, Spring is here. Spring to me = long walks with the kids, Easter candy, bunnies and birthdays (mine, max's, my brothers', Jeremiah's two nephews and niece, his stepmom and Rosey's birthday are all coming up very soon).

It also meant working on this very 'Spring' inspired custom baby set for a blogging friend who is expecting a baby in October, but isn't revealing her pregnant state on her blog yet.

This set is made of luxury merino wool with accents in peruvian wool. It was so soft and so cute I had a couple moments of baby jealousy as I was packaging it up to ship. Then Elijah ran into the room pointing to his crotch yelling 'poopy' and all of those baby thoughts disappeared immediately.
If you're interested in a set like this in any color or style...or any of the components of this set, please contact me at oliverosetree@yahoo.com. I'm a prompt responder.

There are other stuffed animals on sale right now!!!

Have a Happy Easter! Enjoy your families and loads of chocolate and marshmallow flavored junk!

Steam Me Up Worms, I'll Go Eat Erin

Everybody knows that I love love love Becky from the World Famous Steam Me Up , Kid.

So when she ordered some custom items from me I was tickled every shade of pink my limited little brain could come up with.

I was even more tickled when I got this photo in my inbox this morning:

Then, get this. On the very same day I got the order from Steamy I also get an order from Becky at I'll go eat worms (Who is vlogging today, by the way!)

WHAT?!? Isn't that weird.

Here are the photos I took of their stuff before I shipped it out:

Yesterday I listed some new items in my shop:

Baby Blue City Cap

Max's Kitty Cat Hat

Neckwarmer or Scarf Have it Your Way

I am making the toughest face I've ever made in the Baby Blue City Cap listing.

If you're interested in a custom order, please contact me via email. I like to give special discounts to my blogworld friends. (Like I have any friends)

AND IN OTHER NEWS! Jeremiah will be posting his second blog post ever (the first was on our failed movie review blog BloggingisforDorksMovies) this coming Sunday October 25th. It will be all about what I'm really like. And it will be all lies. ALL LIES.

If your partner/friend/sibling/parent wants to post about you on the same day I'll link you on Jeremiah's Sunday Post. Just let me know.

You Make a Deal with The Devil, You Get a Sale.

I got a etsy conversation the other day from a potential client wanting to know if she could see more hat photos to get a better idea of what kind of set to order for a gift. Rather than send her a bunch of photos I thought I'd post them on here and then if I get a request like that again I can just link them to this post. Voila!

I picked out a few custom order photos, plus all the newest ones...but left out one that I made recently for someone just with the off chance that she wanted to surprise whoever she ordered it for...and that they would look on my blog? haha. Well....that's probably a stretch.

Here is a flaps/no flaps design with vintage buttons and a mother/son set (plain beanies...cheaper set)

The scarf was 'super chunky' 'super long' and had vintage buttons at one end so you could turn the scarf into a kind of cowl. I made one for myself last year and wore it everytime I left the house! (I like that photo of myself for some reason.)
I threw these vintage buttons on the fingerless gloves as a whim, thinking she wouldn't like them...being that they're bright yellow and all. Instead she loved them and even wrote me an email later saying how often she wears them.

This set is the only custom order that I've had to 'do-over' multiple times. She originally wanted ear flaps, but her husband said they looked too 'Darth Vader' which I tended to agree with after looking at the photos. She loved the neckwarmer. The second pic was the hat I eventually came up with, which is still one of my favorite hats...thick but stretchy AND charcoal grey, which I love.

This is my sister Hannah and the hat I made for her for Christmas. So I guess that's not a custom order but it's a cute photo! The next one is silver and black and an adult hat order, but I sometimes have Rose model the adult hats just so I don't have to use SOOOO many photos of myself AND she's gorgeous, of course.

This is Max in a True Blue Helmet Head beanie. I like to give my hats dumb names...I never said I was all that mature, you know. The brown and tan hat was made for Twinkie. I just got an order for three more just like it from some chick up in Canada after seeing the pics of Rose I posted in this hat last week or whenever. So cool!

This first hat was made for Jeremiah's neice...I have photos of her wearing it somewhere and of course cannot find them. Anyways her mother told me her winter coat is hot pink and grey and when I finally gave her the hat it matched perfectly! Yay for me.
The second is a set of little girls sister hats. I usually don't do super girly stuff like this, but that's what the customer wanted. They're cute in their own way methinks.

On another note, I don't know if anyone remembers but I was offering much reduced store prices and custom order prices in my store until the end of September. If you want the reduced prices, even if you don't need the item for awhile, order now. You can either email me (oliverosetree@yahoo.com) and I can respond to you and then later send you an invoice that way, or you can go to my etsy shop, sign up and start a conversation with me...I'll make you a listing for a custom order and you can purchase it that way.

I'm also using the nicest high quality yarn now, which is also still super wash. I made a deal with the devil and got abbreviated shipping costs for it too! Sweet.
I'm also working on more delicate looking winter accessories (not so thick and chunky) like button up fingerless gloves and those headbands I post photos of before in many different colors. I'm using 100% Peruvian wool for the more delicate things and it's amazing how nice the stitches look.
